A Whole-Family Business
I've always been a budgeting geek. Ever since moving out on my own I've meticulously maintained spreadsheets to track my budget. I tried most of the budgeting software options out there but found them to be too complicated or no better than my spreadsheets. I couldn't find anything that worked perfectly for my style of budgeting. So I stuck with my custom-made spreadsheets and that served me well for several years.
Elizabeth and I got married in 2008 and my motivation to piddle with my spreadsheets and macros in the evenings dwindled significantly. Who wants to balance a spreadsheet when you're married to someone who actually wants to spend time with you?! Not to mention we needed something we could both easily access. Something that was not local to just my computer.
That's when the epiphany struck: I'm a programmer! I can make a program that I'd enjoy using and tailor it to my specific budgeting style. Rather than maintaining my spreadsheets, I started spending that time creating NeoBudget.
Elizabeth has always been very supportive and excited about the project because she loves budgeting as much as I do.
One year later NeoBudget was released publicly; the brainchild of our combined ideas. Fifteen years of marriage and three children later it is still getting better and better. It's been a fun journey watching it evolve as we found our budgeting stride and learned about how many of our users prefer to budget.

Today, I am fortunate to be working on NeoBudget full time. My home office was getting a bit ruckus after our second child was born so we built a small 12x16 shed in the woods behind the house. This now serves as the NeoBudget Global Headquarters.

I sincerely hope you enjoy NeoBudget as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
Happy Budgeting,
Luke
